Who We Are

A family set out to change the construction industry after their own experience building a new home. When presented with conventional termite prevention options like Termidor—a pesticide based on fipronil—they knew there had to be a safer, more sustainable solution. They reached out to their local building inspector's office in search of eco-friendly alternatives, only to discover they had none to offer. Instead, they were advised to consult pest control professionals, all of whom recommended Termidor as the best option.

Determined to find a better way, they conducted their own research and discovered that a combination of Bora-care treatment and physical termite barriers could provide a safer more cost-effective solution. In fact, this approach was half the cost of Termidor and provided long-term protection. They convinced their builder to adopt this eco-friendly termite prevention plan, and hopefully, he will now be more inclined to offer it to other clients.

Fipronil, widely used in pest control, is applied to the foundation and soil of homes. Since its introduction in 2000, over 10 million U.S. homes have been treated with this chemical. For a typical 1,000-square-foot home, approximately 200 gallons of pesticide are used, yet many homeowners are unaware of its long-term environmental risks. Though the construction industry and regulators downplay concerns, research shows fipronil can leach into groundwater and harm ecosystems.

Even more concerning, fipronil has been linked to the collapse of bee populations—vital to our food systems and biodiversity. While many countries have banned this harmful chemical, it remains widely used in U.S. construction.
